Our Story

BromleyBee Early Years was founded with a simple conviction: that the earliest years of a child’s life deserve thoughtful childcare, nurturing care, and meaningful early childhood education. Drawing upon British early years principles and local understanding, our UK–Bangladesh partnership was created to offer families a trusted preschool and daycare setting where children feel secure, valued, and inspired to learn.

 

From the beginning, our aim has been to balance structure with warmth – combining the British EYFS framework with a nurturing preschool environment that recognises each child’s individuality. What began as a shared vision has grown into a community of families who trust our childcare centre with their children’s most formative years and early learning journey.

Farhin Ashrafi, Managing Director of BromleyBee Early years a practising architect based in Dhaka, brings a distinctive perspective to BromleyBee Early Years. With a longstanding interest in designing thoughtful spaces for children, she is committed to elevating the standard of early years environments in Bangladesh. Drawing on her architectural expertise, Farhin has helped shape a setting that is calm, carefully planned, and purposefully designed. She believes that space profoundly influences a child’s emotional and social development, and therefore prioritises balance, light, order, and tranquillity within the learning environment. Her vision ensures that BromleyBee offers not only quality early childhood education, but also a physical environment that supports reflection, security, and healthy development.

Alia Raza Ashrafi

Director | Head of Daycare & Health and Safety (Childcare Specialist, United Kingdom)
Alia Raza Ashrafi serves as Director of Early Years at BromleyBee, overseeing our daycare, after-school provision, and health and safety. She is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, organisation, and children's wellbeing throughout the setting. With a background in Health and Social Care and formal training in Early Childhood Education, Alia combines healthcare knowledge with extensive experience in the UK childcare sector. Well versed in the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, she ensures its principles are thoughtfully woven into everyday practice at BromleyBee. As an experienced early years professional and devoted mother, Alia leads with warmth, patience, and sound judgement. Under her guidance, BromleyBee provides a safe, nurturing environment where every child's physical, emotional, and social development is supported with genuine care.

Rahena Khanom

Rahena Khanom serves as Director of Preschool at BromleyBee Early Years, bringing many years of experience within the education sector. With strong knowledge of the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, she leads the preschool with care, clarity, and purpose. Her background in UK schools - across nursery, reception, and primary year groups - has given her valuable insight into child development and the wider UK curriculum. Rahena takes a thoughtful approach to children’s learning and behaviour, supporting their academic progress alongside their emotional and social growth. Under her guidance, the preschool provides a nurturing environment where children build confidence and strong foundations for their next stage of education.

2017
A Conversation That Sparked a Vision

Every great journey begins somewhere, and ours began with a simple conversation.

Alia Ashrafi and Farhin Ashrafi were discussing the challenges many young families in Bangladesh faced when searching for safe, high-quality childcare. One of Farhin's close friends was struggling to find a setting that offered both professional care and meaningful early learning for her child.

Having lived and worked in the childcare sector in the United Kingdom, Alia understood first-hand the value of high-quality early years practice. Farhin, an architect, had also observed that many childcare settings were not designed around the developmental needs of young children. Together, they asked themselves a simple question:

'What if we could create the kind of early years setting every family hopes to find?'

2018
An Idea Takes Shape

Determined to turn that idea into something meaningful, Alia and Farhin began planning a British-inspired early years setting built around quality care, purposeful learning, and thoughtfully designed environments.

They were soon joined by Rahena Khan, an experienced educator who shared the same passion for nurturing young children and believed every child deserved the very best start in life.

Together, they laid the foundations for BromleyBee Early Years.

2019
BromleyBee Opens Its Doors

After months of planning, preparation and plenty of anticipation, BromleyBee Early Years welcomed its first families. What had once been an idea around a conversation became a place filled with laughter, curiosity and the excitement of young children discovering the world around them.

2020
Weathering the Storm

Like so many organisations around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented challenges.

Although our classrooms fell quiet, our commitment to children never did. We stayed connected with families through online activities, story sessions and interactive learning experiences, helping children remain engaged, curious and emotionally supported during an uncertain time.

Those months tested everyone, but they also reminded us why BromleyBee exists: to support children and families, especially when they need it most.
